Hi! I'm Janice, also known as Jai and these are my dolls. The costumes shown here are crocheted with various colors of Classic Crochet Thread Size 10. The costumes are made to fit11 ½” fashion dolls. I used the Barbie and Ken dolls as my models; I’ve renamed them to give them thier own personality. I’ve been crocheting for 30 years. I started in the break room at the MGM Grand Hotel in Reno, NV in 1979. Being a blackjack dealer we had 20 minute breaks every hour. Some of the ladies I worked with brought in their crocheting to work on. They were kind enough to show me the stitches, from there I got books to teach me the rest. My first costume was made in 2005. I was so excited about it I had to make another and then one more, and so it went on. My costumes are not for sale, I have only parted with one. Depending on the design and construction, each costume will take no less then 100 hours to make. Some costumes I followed patterns I purchased but most are my original design or changes from bought patterns. Each costume comes with accessories; all but the fan are my interpretation of year’s gone bye. All the ladies are proper young ladies who wear underclothes. I hope you enjoy viewing my costume designs, I enjoyed making them.
